Baking Industry Experienced Workers Qualification Pathfinders Program

The Rising to the Trade, Baking Industry Experienced Workers Qualification Pathfinders Program is an easier and simple way for candidates to get their skills recognised. The program is designed for people who have or had a career in the baking industry but not had their skills formally recognised. 

The Baking Associations of Australia in partnership with the NSW Department  of Education (Trade Pathways) and TAFE NSW will work together to assist you to receive a national qualification in Bread Baking or Cake/Pastry or both qualifications.

How to Participate

Step 1

Tell us about your industry experience.

By filling out the information/application details below our industry expert team who are all bakers and pastry cooks in the industry will be able to assess your eligibility to participate in this programme.    

Step 2

Have a chat with our industry experts.

Once submitting your application one of our friendly Industry Expert team will contact you to discuss a few items about your previous work history and job roles in the baking industry.

Step 3

Industry site or TAFE Campus site visits.

Our industry Experts along with Tafe NSW have been busy visiting candidates all over NSW to observe their work methods and skills in producing quality baked products. A big thank you to all the employers who have made time for the on-site visits and we look forward to some GAP training and then the final Bake Off in May.

Step 4

Brushing up on your skills/GAP Training (if required)

After the site visit, the industry expert team will assess whether you can go directly to the Rising to the Trade Baking Skills Assessment Day or need some extra training. Some candidates may need to brush up on a few extra skills to meet the trade requirements. The simple additional training can be conducted either at the TAFE Campus or in your workplace. This training is free of charge.

Step 5

Rising to the Trade Skills Assessment Day and Graduation         

All candidates in the programme will be asked to participate in the Rising to the Trade Skills Assessment Day. This will be conducted over 2 days, on the first day the candidate will put together a production plan with ingredients and methods for a small range of products, with the second day allowing you to bake the products. All travel and accommodation are provided in the programme. With an awards ceremony on completion.
